[this is good] Oh my goodness this one makes me lust like crazy! But I'm not a verizon member, but I should switch since my employer and verizon give me a discount. Oh love!

Wow that is a great program.  Its about time they do something good for its employees.

wow.... I get a free phone thru Cingular on 12/15... I'm sure it won't be NEARLY as cool... but considering how often I drop my phones... I'm sure it doesn't really matter... very jealous though... oh... and Fuzz wants one... so if one ever falls off the truck... send it my way!

Switch! Get the Storm!  It's soooo awesome!  :)

Yeah no kidding, I heard that it's only in our center and that it was Tony May's idea. Not bad huh?

Lol, ok if I find a spare laying around I'll send it out to Fuzz for you (how did he get that nickname again? I forgot lol)

Shan

Something about him on a diving board proclaiming that he was Fuzzy... very strange....

I'm coming here as a phone and service geek. I was put off by how expensive the service was for my needs, as a mobile blogger. I put mobile blogging first when I look for a phone service, though it doesn't really look like it right now. hah

Anyway, I became interested in the Storm since Blackberry appears to have a pretty solid foundation of good phones and well, we need that in the age of touch screen.

1. Does the camera have a dedicated button on the phone itself and not in the program?

(Random: Are blackberry phones durable? Can they take falls? I drop my phone a lot. I've dropped mine 8 times and it acts like nothing phases it.)

2. Does it have a real flash, and not the really bright flashlight flash on all blackberries? Because I was told it can auto focus. (My sony phone could auto focus and have a real flash and that phone is almost three years old. I think it was a little ahead of it's time. I want to find a phone just like it but with qwerty keyboard)

3. On Blackberry service, does it come with an email service or an ability to have email service on the phone without having to pay $19.99 a month just to be able to email? I moblog through emailing and sending multiple pictures and I was wondering if Blackberry handled that or would I be paying all these extra fees to support what I want?

haha yeah weird

This should help:

1. You can assign one of the side buttons as the camera key, that's what I do. Or you can just go in the menu and turn it on.  That's also the same button used as the shutter.

I've dropped my blackberry so many times, it has some dings and stuff but still works great. I would still get a case, screen protector and insurance just in case.

2. I'm not sure what you mean by "real flash" but it's really bright and works really well from what I saw when I tested it out. It's small but it looks like a tiny bulb compared to the one in my Pearl and the Curve.  The auto focus is just like a digi cam, you press the button half way and it focuses and all the way down to take the pic. It takes good macro style pics too, way better than the Pearl/Curve. 3.2 mp camera compared to 2.0 mp in Pearl/Curve.

3. Basically you pick your calling plan and then you have to have the $30 blackberry data plan on top of that, you can't have a blackberry without it. It seems like a lot at first but when we had pay-as-you-go data plans for PDAs people payed way too much because they didn't monitor their data, you can't measure data by how long you surf the web or email, it's all measured in megabytes. $30 for unlimited is actually cheap. It gives you unlimited data, unlimited email (up to 10 email accounts with the Blackberry Internet Service).  Picture and text messaging is extra and starts at $5 a mo. We also have unlimited messaging plans, customer service can fill you in on all the details.  I moblog through email so I can send 3 or 4 pics at a time to my vox mobolog email address. Picture messaging works too but you can only send one pic at a time. Posting through email works fine but if you're sending more than one pic it will take a min or two for the message to send (especially if you send hi-res pics)

All that being said it sold so well that we're sold out and slammed with backorders so if you want one you should call customer service and place your order now.  Purchases placed today won't ship until Dec 15, and I have no idea when I'll get mine because customer orders are processed first.

Thanks! What I meant by a "real flash" like a flash on your camera. The flash on Tom's blackberry is just a really bright flash light. A  real flash gives off two quick pops of light as opposed to a light that shines for the amount of time the shutter is open.

But yeah, I'm used to PDA plan prices on top of insurance and text, etc. I think to better word what I was saying was does the Blackberry plan cover the email service on the phone? Because I was looking at the voyeger and it seemed like you had pay $19.99 a month for email service on your phone(Pop 3 and not mobile internet)?

I was just probing with questions I can't find the answers for now, but I'm glued to Helio for 2 years so by then a second generation should be out. I was just asking about your services!! :D :D :D :D

Thanks for your help :D
